Wraparound Care
Our ambition for Wrap Around Care at Somerdale Educate Together Primary School is to enable all families to have access to before and after-school provision that supports children outside of regular school hours. It is designed to accommodate the needs of working families while ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children.
Our approach to wraparound care will include:
Child-Centered Approach
Focus on the child's needs | Activities and routines will be designed with the child's developmental, social, and emotional needs in mind. |
Choice and participation | Children will have a voice in the activities they engage in, allowing them to explore their interests and make decisions. |
Safe & Inclusive Environment
Health & Safety | Ensure the environment meets safety regulations, including proper staff-to-child ratios, secure facilities, and clear emergency protocols. |
Inclusion & Diversity | Cater to the needs of all children, regardless of ability, background, or special requirements. |

Balanced Activities | A mix of structured and free-play activities that promote physical activity, creativity, relaxation, and learning. |
Easily Available | Activities will be tailored to the age groups within the programme, ensuring they are engaging and stimulating for all children. |
Qualified and Caring Staff
Experienced Professionals | Staff will be trained in childcare, behaviour management, first aid, and safeguarding. They should also be approachable, nurturing, and able to build positive relationships with children. |
Staff-Child Continuity | Having consistent staff helps build trust and security for the children. |
